Specs You Should Look For
- At least 8GB Memory (RAM)
- At least 256GB SSD Storage. You’ll often see NVMe associated with the SSD. That’s the form factor of SSD that most new laptops use today. The other form factor is SATA SSD, which is perfectly OK. You DO NOT want a HDD. A HDD is much slower than a SDD. Don’t be tempted by the larger amount of storage that you get with HDDs. It’s not worth it.
- Display Resolution: A Full HD Display. This means a resolution of 1920x1080 (a display labeled HD and not “FHD” or “Full HD” will be lower resolution than 1920x1080 and not preferred).
- Display Size: personal preference. As long as the resolution is at least 1920x1080, it’s up to you.
- An intel Core i5 Processor (its AMD equivalent) or better. The generation of processor isn't a huge deal. I personally own a mid-2012 Macbook Pro running Windows 10 with a core i5 processor, 16GB of memory and a 756GB SSD. It still cuts through video editing projects for me.
